Rainbow over Niagara Falls
Niagara name was given by Native Americans, which translated means “thundering water”. From 1800 to waterfall is open for visiting tourists. The huge waterfall, with a maximum height of 56 meters (as a block with 21 floors) and a length of 790 meters, Niagara Falls was first discovered and studied by a U.S. geologist – Roy Spencer.
Niagara Falls
Niagara is impressive, loud, mighty, they are formed above the clouds of tiny water droplets suspended in the air upon impact occurring between water and rocks below, on sunny days can be seen very clearly over the bow and water loss. It is a magnificent sight, the fairy tale.
Historical data
12 000 years before the end of the last period of glaciation, the last glaciers melted in the region leading to Lake Erie waters to flow over the sides forming the Niagara River which flows into Lake Ontario, crossing over him over the precipice (pit) between two lakes make up the Niagara water fall. This hole has cataracts and a range of geological features, rock hard underneath dolomite is softer layers of shale found. The water table falls through the process of erosion during the break with fragments of wall falls, Niagara River causing shortness of this phenomenon by 1.8 m per year, what looks like its creation, its waterfall near Lake Erie with over 11 km .

By channeling a portion of the river water to generate hydroelectric power, which crosses the river flow was reduced waterfall, reduced the beauty of what they, in turn slowed the process of erosion. In January 1936 the extreme cold has completely frozen waterfall, forming a curtain of ice several hundred meters. The year 1969 was conducted over a period of five months in a different direction all the water falls, so facilitating the geological research of the river, and waterfall walls to try to stabilize.
