“The taj” Louandal’s photos around Agra, India: "

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Agra, India by TravelPod blogger Louandal titled “The taj!!!” Louandal’s travel blog entry: “fter a tolerable 4 hours in an air conditioned seating compartment, we arrived in Agra – home of the Taj Mahal the good old guidebook recommended a hotel in the small area of hotels around the Taj – it is supposed to be a vehicle free zone (so hopefully no horn beeping for a few days!!!) as the marble of the Taj is being damaged by the ridiculously high levels of pollution in the city. Unsurprisingly this was not the case and people still zoomed through on their motorbikes however they were mainly the police, the Taj is very heavily guarded and security very tight. We had a lovely view from the roof of the hotel so the next day we walked the 70 meters or so to the entrance. Fees to get in were 25 rupees for indians and 750 for all foreigners!!!!! after much moaning from al we paid it and went to see the worlds biggest tomb, basically its a very romantic story, Shah Jahan ordered the Taj to be built to hold the body of his favorite wife mumtaz who died giving birth to his 14th child!! It took 22 years to complete and is an amazing piece of architecture, however it is literally just a giant tomb the temperature was boiling – must have been pushing 35 degrees, you are also supposed to be barefoot as it is a religous site so people were hotfooting it on the boiling marble!!! Included in the foreigners entrance price were foot
